We are seeing a rapid change in the career outlook for music therapy professionals. However, the story on the educational front is quite different. In the US, 301 students graduated from music therapy degree programs in 2006. And in 2010, 283 students graduated from music therapy schools.

This represents a 6% change in 4 years. This decline in the number of students graduating from music therapy courses is less than the 12% growth nationally for students graduating from institutions of higher learning in general.
