		<description>Doug - that is how jobs are created and the economy boosted.  Just like Aldous Huxley taught us in Brave New World, we must consume to survive!

Sarcasm aside, technology indeed has its place, but without knowing the basics, making connections is that much more difficult.  Besides, my understanding of the brain (supported by Google) is that, like any other muscle, if you don&#039;t exercise it through use (to include memory skills), it falls away.

		<description>I&#039;m always explaining to my K-12 teacher friends that I have much less technology in my college classrooms than they do. At my suburban college some of us still teach in rooms that just consist of a blackboard, or whiteboard if we&#039;re lucky. I still use cursive to write things on the board if I&#039;m in a room without a projection system. I worry that my future students won&#039;t be able to read cursive since it is no longer taught in K-12.</description>
