98% of currently available curriculum materials that have real value, are built to meet the Common Core standards, and allow the schools to immediately use devices-in-the-hands-of-all-students -- are not built for the iPad and won't run on them. Nearly every district in the nation has spent millions to 5-7 existing multi-year subscriptions to this high-value content from the 400 and some companies in that space such as Apex Learning, Plato Learning, Compass Learning, Pearson, Follet, HMH and more. But 98% of that won't run on iPads. It's a bit silly, and more importantly, a dereliction of public duty for school to spend on devices that won't work with the things that accomplish real learning. It's as if some districts don't know that there are many devices out there that would work to leverage existing tax investment. Or they don't know that taxpayers care and so go with something trendy instead of practical.
