Brencis, I am not sure anyone is actually suggesting that this technology is a teacher-replacement. But it has been argued for a while that education would be a perfect environment for 3D technology, as e-textbooks can make excellent use of 3D modelling to illustrate concepts. But Jon Rashid is right, that its the implementation that is important and what actually makes the tech shine, not the tech itself.

Therefore there will always be a positive role for the teacher - who always appears in 3D.

Danny Nicholson needs to understand that the whole point of a 2D image is that it cannot be turned and rotated due to the fact it is 2D. The benefits of 3D lie in the quality of the content and not just the delivery method. The key is to use 3D where it benefits the teaching process and not just for the sake of using 3D. The aim of developers should be to enhance the teaching process and not to attempt to replace current methods.
