Invasion of the Baby Daddy captures the plight of unwed parents and their responsibility to each other and their child

Chicago, IL, February 10, 2010 – Whether it was the outcome of a one-night stand or a long-established relationship, unwed parents are a recurring problem in our society today, with more than 70% of African-American families facing this challenge.  However, this problem is not limited to only the African-American community.  With divorce rates in this country exceeding 50% of marriages across the board, and with the majority of these families having children, each one is subject to this predicament.

In Dr. John Bell’s Invasion of the Baby Daddy, the challenges faced by unwed parents are the subject of this fictional tale.  Based in part on real events, characters Dr. Mark Sand and wife Rachel are thrust into an emotional and costly struggle emanating from the Invasion of the Baby Daddy and the devastating impact the baby’s daddy has on their lives and relationship.  In the story, Dr. Sand goes through the typical dating disasters that we all face in life as we look for the “perfect” mate.  As he prepares to build a medical practice in Tennessee, he meets a woman named Rachel at a church he visits in Charlotte, North Carolina.  After having a couple of dates during his visit, he discovers that Rachel is pregnant.  Shocked and confused, Dr. Sand returns to Tennessee and resumes his efforts to build his practice.

As he continues to date other women, he also continues to speak with Rachel every week by telephone.  Not finding anyone else that he connects with on a spiritual, educational, or physical level, he decides it’s time to visit Rachel in person.  Nine mon ths have past since he last saw her, she has now had the child, a boy, and Dr. Sands wants to see if there is a relationship to be had between them.  Dr. Sand feels their relationship has grown via long distance telephone exchanges, so when he goes back to visit Rachel in Charlotte, he decides that she is the one for him and asks her to be his wife.

Rachel agrees to marry Dr. Sand.  Now the real twist of the story begins, as the Invasion of the Baby Daddy inserts his power over their relationship.  The story is a heart-wrenching rollercoaster with many ups and downs that keeps you wanting to know more of the story.  With true facts and statistics dappled throughout the book, you begin to realize the volume of this problem in our society today – not just splashed in the headlines about celebrities but in every corner of our country.
