I find the topic of smart drugs in schools interesting, and there seems to be a fit of hysteria surrounding them these days. Students essentially paying to be smarter and all that. Personally I think it&#039;s a bit over blown. Unlike &quot;cheating&quot; in sports using drugs to enhance one&#039;s body, smart drugs make it easier for a person to do well on a &quot;sport&quot; that is essentially individual. If drugs can make a person smarter, I think that&#039;s a good thing... I think on average we could stand to be a little bit smarter.

Yes, Modafinil has quite a side effect profile, but the Racetams like Piracetam, Aniracetam, etc (explained here: http://www.unfinishedman.com/nootropics-facts-about-smart-drugs/) are generally very well tolerated.
