SnapShot GmbH, the ESSEC Business School and Duetto have teamed up to offer a course called “Hotel Management: Distribution, Revenue and Demand Management Specialization” on the online education platform Coursera.
The undergraduate-level course, which designed for individuals interested in a hospitality management career, covers major themes in hotel demand, hotel revenue and hotel distribution management and prepares learners for an entry-level position in these fields. The bundle offered through Coursera will be led by senior hotel industry executives and individuals with comprehensive hospitality industry experience so that students will get a comprehensive view of the biggest challenges and best practices in today’s hotel management sector.
The Hotel Management: Distribution, Revenue and Demand Management Specialization bundle consists of three courses that learners must complete in the suggested order. The first course, “Fundamentals of hotel distribution” is a 4-week course with 2 to 4 hours of commitment per week. It teaches best practices on how to leverage traditional and digital communication challenges to achieve success. The second course teaches the “Fundamentals of Revenue management” with an emphasis on:
“[A]nalytics-based techniques [that] help predict consumer behavior at the hotel’s market level so that the hotel can sell each room each night at the optimum price.”
The third course, “Demand management: Breaking down today’s commercial silos” teaches the fundamentals of Asset Management, Demand Generation, Digital Marketing and Demand Optimisation.
At the end of the three courses, students have to complete a capstone project in which they will be expected to apply the skills and knowledge they collected from their courses. The Capstone project will prepare students for their next hospitality career step, which is applying for entry-level positions in the hotel revenue, distribution and demand industry.
Successful candidates will earn a certificate. The bundle doesn’t require any previous hospitality industry experience and the course bundle takes five months or less to complete.
“At SnapShot, we have always held education as one of our founding missions,” Martin Soler, SnapShot CMO said. “Since the start of the company we have attempted to help our industry and its future leaders with bootcamps and education. When we sat down with ESSEC’s team to discuss how we could get the content of our bootcamps out to many more hoteliers and students, a MOOC was the obvious choice.”
Soler added that Coursea and ESSEC were ideal choices that allow SnapShot to make a difference in the hospitality industry education. He also said the MOOC is a ‘proactive contribution to the hospitality industry’ that will help hotel executives bring their businesses a step ahead of the competition. Dr. Peter O’Connor, Dean of Academic Programs at ESSEC said about the course bundle:
“The courses are designed for undergraduate-level students interested in pursuing careers in hospitality management, or junior-level staff working in operations interested in socializing in these dynamic and developing areas.”
