Every alternative is a good idea for some persons and bad idea for other persons. It depends on individual values and contexts.

Light blue type against a white background is not a good idea. Design should not trump utility; a darker typeface is more legible.

The families aren't being forced into educating their kids online. It is only one of the options available to families who want it. It will also allow those who wish to homeschool their kids but lack the expertise to do so and still make sure their kids education is at least as rigorous as other schools. A system doesn't have to be ideal for everyone in order to be useful.

Isn't online schooling basically an effort to push the costs of education from the schools onto the parents? Now, instead of students going to school during the weekdays, so both parents can work, they'll stay home, which means capital savings for the school districts, and diminished opportunity for employment for the parents.
