If the teachers are really that upset, something is really wrong. I was a union president for a few years. Teachers like security, if they are quitting, it must be desperate. I teach in both a charter school and a public school, but I have the same pension and protections in each. They are different models and each works well for different kinds of kids. Teachers don't get much compensation, so if you cut the pensions, the best ones will go elsewhere, leaving only the bad ones in the classroom. A very bad idea. So are the schools asking for this interference?
