Educators facing challenges competing with technology

KUWAIT: Over 1,200 female teachers attended Kuwait Teachers Society’s (KTS) Seventh Teacher Conference from Dec 28 – 30 in the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The leadership at the Ministry of Education and the education sector have certain duties and responsibilities. “It is necessary to increase the educational and scientific qualification of our educators and we are currently passing through a difficult phase,” said Dr Moudhi Al-Homoud, Minister of Education and Higher Education at the launching ceremony yesterday.
It is facing challenges competing with the technology revolution around the world and those difficulties are expected to increase even more.

The Ministry is always providing training course for its staff to ensure improvement. “The Ministry provides teachers with systematic field training to cultivate their educational experience with courses and workshops. This is organized in cooperation with KTS and the Development Sector in the Ministry of Education, which always prepares the plans in this field,” added Al-Homoud.

There are solutions for the teachers with low performances. “We can rehabilitate teachers with low performance before transferring them to administrative positions with training courses and workshops. This will help teachers improve their performance inside the classroom and cultivate the educational experience. I also hope that the law of protecting the teacher will be approved soon,” she further said.

This conference is very important and “needs to be studied and analyzed,” she stressed. “This will help us execute our future projects and achieve the desired development of the education system. Such education conferences are useful as it deals with these vital subjects.

This year’s conference was titled ‘The Education Leadership and the Horizons of the Third Millennium’. “The conference will discuss subjects related to educational leadership as it plays an important role and responsibility in the development and reforms of the educational process,” noted Ayed Al-Sahli, President of the Kuwait Teachers Society.

The development process needs rehabilitation. “After making the primary studies I found that we can’t talk about a development boom in the education process without the rehabilitation of educational leadership,” said Mariyam Al-Mathkour, Head of the Organizing Committee.

One of the main goals of this conference is to open connections between planners, researchers and executors to reach the opinions that serve the education process.” The three day conference is also accompanied by an exhibition related to the field. It contains lectures and workshops focusing on three main subjects: ‘What’s new in the educational leadership and the demands of the third millennium,’ ‘the leader of the third millennium- skills and roles’ and ‘the local, regional, and international educationa
l leadership experiences.’
