I don't trust a governor who has already decimated public schools by his prior cuts to education. Some of what he now proposes sounds good, but his proposal for a $1 billion increase will inadequately address the damage that his cuts have already done. Governor Scott draws no praise from me until I see authentic action. His political rhetoric doesn't cost a cent. Our public schools are suffering as a result of his policies; our students are not getting the education that they deserve. I propose that the governor forget about his effete "listening tour," and instead spend a couple weeks teaching in an inner-city school. He'd hear loud and clear from the students, the clients he is supposed to serve. But honestly, I don't think he'd last even a day in a public high school. I doubt that he possesses the stamina, courage, or empathy. I challenge him to prove me wrong. The very notion of a "listening tour" makes me laugh out loud. What a ridiculously genteel concept! It sounds like something the Roman emperors would do for the plebeians.
