Is it "inhumane" to break the cycle of poverty by placing students in out-of-school conditions conducive to learning without being distracted by wondering if there will be life at all tomorrow? I work with poverty stricken kids and I'm sure they'd at least like the option. It's much more "inhumane" to continue to fake some false piety with no practical solution.

Newark is kind of a crap-hole really. There, I said it. Is affordable housing really an issue there?

The reason people don't talk about boarding schools more is because it's inhumane to make family separation a condition for good education if you're poor.

I like the idea of co-location of housing and schools. I think that would be excellent. The more we can insulate students and parents from poverty the better the results. I'm not sure if it's entirely kosher to say this, but I think people don't consider boarding school enough as an option to educate lower-income students.
