I endorse the conclusion that the NCTM arrogantly dominates what aspects of mathematics are taught to children. In the International Journal of Mathematical Education in Science and Technology (1994,vol. 25, 549-561) I describe in detail how the NCTM forces elementary students to learn to compute fractions. These youngsters' low scores here illustrate well this form of academic child abuse.
