THE SMASH HIT CHILDREN'S SERIES FROM AUSTRALIA IS HERE!

WHAT’S A WAUSSIE, YOU ASK? WHY IT’S A WACKY AUSSIE!
--New children’s series brings families back to the basics
with some help from “down under”

It’s easy to see that America’s children are growing up faster than ever before. Most believe this is a result of increasing technology available to children of all ages, exposing them to mature content and, sometimes, violence. So how do parents prevent their children from making decisions based on the influence of these outside mediums?
Some help from "down under" is on the way ....
Australian author Jacqui Taub believes it’s as simple as raising children’s awareness of being kind, polite, and thoughtful of others and their feelings. The mother of four and grandmother of 13, Taub has instilled these messages of thoughtfulness and respect in her family and is now spreading the word with her new series of children’s books entitled The Waussies. A group of six whimsical, brightly colored characters from Australia, all created and illustrated by Taub, are each featured in their own book, with accompanying CD. Each book features a story that delivers similar messages of kindness and acceptance through fun and humorous situations. The attached CD introduces The Waussie Song, with its own special message of never giving up, even if things are difficult.
“The young children of today are surrounded by outside influences that can have a detrimental effect on their lives and I think it’s time for a change,” says Taub. “Each day, I try to commit acts of kindness that will not only help others but will make them feel good about the experience as well. I truly think that these simple messages, of bringing both children and parents back to the basics, can have a profound effect.”
Taub began writing The Waussies series over 25 years ago, and has incorporated many messages into the books including:

  • The meaning of manners - Why a “thank you” or “please” can mean more to others than we think
  • A kernel of kindness - The smallest acts of kindness can be a gift to others, and yourself
  • The power of patience - Both children and parents should take the time to listen and understand what other say and feel
  • A message of motivation - Don’t be afraid to reach for the stars and accomplish your dreams, no matter how big or small you (or your dreams) may be
  • The secret to success - Success isn’t marked by accomplishing a goal. You succeed the minute you begin trying

In reading the series and getting to know the Waussies, Taub hopes that all children, and parents, will become “WAUSSIEFIED!,” where doing good deeds and never giving up, even if things are difficult, will be part of their daily mindset.
The Waussies series has been written for children ages 3-7 and includes the following titles: Boomerang Waussie to the Rescue, Tennis Racquet Waussie’s Space Adventure, Burger Waussie’s Lost Bun, Beachball Waussie’s Lost Air Stopper, Hiccup Waussie Loses His Hiccups, and Pineapple Waussie’s Tickly Problem.

Jacqui Taub, a native Australian, has been writing since the age of 5. After marrying and starting a family, Taub’s doodling and nonsensical verse led to the birth of a group of Wacky Aussies, which would later be shortened to The Waussies, six fun-loving, whimsical characters who teach children about the importance of kindness, being polite, and having fun. Although The Waussies series was a smash-hit with Australian children, Taub decided to devote her time to her young children and put The Waussies on hold. Almost 25 years later and inspired to share the story with her 13 grandchildren, as well as children and parents all over the world, she has revived The Waussies series. Taub lives with her supportive and loving husband and visits her children and grandchildren residing around the world as often as possible.
