We are seeing a rapid change in the career outlook for forestry professionals. However, the story on the educational front is quite different. In the US, 4,562 students graduated from forestry degree programs in 2006. And in 2010, 1,983 students graduated from forestry schools.
This represents a 57% change in 4 years. This decline in the number of students graduating from forestry courses is greater than the 12% growth nationally for students graduating from institutions of higher learning in general.
