TAKS passing standards increase

The accountability standards for the 2007 Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills are going up. Education Commissioner Shirley J. Neeley has announced that the passing standards to reach the Academically Acceptable rating will increase 5 percent to 65 percent for reading, writing and social studies; 45 percent for mathematics; and 40 percent for science.
