Suburbs taking interest in charter schools
A funny thing happened in October when the state Department of Public Instruction announced the first round of grants from an $86?million pool to be distributed for charter schools over the next five years. Of the five awards for the planning or first-year operations of charter schools in the Milwaukee area, four went to schools in the suburbs.
