With the current challenging economic environment, educators are being forced to go into their own pockets more than ever – when it comes to supporting their classroom or school with extra supplies, books and/or refreshments. In fact, according to a recent survey by the National School Supply and Equipment Association, teachers are spending on average $395 a year of their own money on supplies for the classroom.*

“We understand the plight of today’s educators, and it is our goal to make the back-to-school shopping experience convenient and rewarding for them,” said Larry Wadford, Sr. Director of Loyalty Marketing for Office Depot.  “In today’s economy, every little bit helps and we know that providing discounts, giveaways and other extras during our Teacher Appreciation Week and Breakfast events adds up to some great savings for teachers shopping at Office Depot.”

Both new and existing members of the Office Depot Star Teacher Program are invited to enjoy 10 percent savings during their local store’s designated Teacher Appreciation Week and attend the Saturday event, which will include a breakfast, product discounts and complimentary school-related gifts.

The Office Depot Star Teacher Program, launched in 2003, provides members with special promotions, discounts and offers to help teachers stretch their classroom budgets in these challenging economic times.  Pre-K through 12th grade classroom teachers are eligible to be a member of the Office Depot Star Teacher program.  Enrollment in the program is free and can be done at any Office Depot store.  Ask a store associate for details or visit www.mystarteacher.com for more information.
