New RtI E-Book Released by Project ACHIEVE Press

(Little Rock, AR); Monday, August 3, 2009—Project ACHIEVE Press announced the release today of a new Electronic book for the educational community on Response-to-Intervention (RtI) written by national expert, Howard M. Knoff, Ph.D.  This comprehensive, single-authored book puts RtI into the context of effective school processes, and is based on the author’s 25 years of experience at the school, district, and state levels.

The book, Implementing Response-to-Intervention at the School, District, and State LevelsFunctional Assessment, Data-based Problem Solving, and Evidence-based Academic and Behavioral Interventions, provides step-by-step implementation suggestions, including how to:

   ** Implement RtI in the context of preventive Positive Academic Services and Supports, and Positive Behavioral Support systems;

 

   ** Conduct systematic, data-based, functional assessments from the classroom to the multidisciplinary team levels;

 

   ** Use comprehensive problem solving leading to effective academic and behavioral interventions implemented in general education classrooms; and

 

   ** Plan and implement school-wide RtI approaches fully integrated into the School Improvement process--supported at the district and state levels.

Dr. Howie Knoff is a national consultant, author, and lecturer; the Director of Project ACHIEVE; and the Director of the Arkansas Department of Education's five-year State Improvement Grant.  He is known across the country for his work in school improvement and strategic planning; positive behavioral supports, interventions, and school safety; and consultation and effective school/classroom processes.  He is a past-president of the National Association of School Psychologists, and has received numerous awards for Project ACHIEVE.
