NEW YORK — On Tuesday, the College Board rolled out a complete redesign of the education professionals section of its Web site, which is used by more than half a million educators each month. The redesigned site has new content and features to provide educators with quick and easy access to the tools, resources and information they need.
“College Board members told us the content on collegeboard.com was extremely helpful, but it was just too difficult to find,” said Hal Higginbotham, senior vice president of information services and chief information officer for the College Board. “The new site earned high praise in previews at our annual meeting last month.”
During user testing, one of the most popular features was the customized home page. Educators can choose a professional role: teacher, counselor, administrator, recruitment and admissions staff, financial aid staff, or higher education faculty or administrator. The content presented is tailored to the role chosen. From any page within the professionals’ site, the reader can choose another home page with news and articles of interest to that particular area of interest.
Other new features include easy-to-use navigation buttons that guide readers from topic to topic, original content, and news and trends pertinent to education professionals. Among the topics covered on the new site are education policy and advocacy, membership, testing information, college guidance, K-12 services, higher education services, professional development, and data, reports and research. In the next few months, an enhanced calendar with testing and professional development dates will be added along with new community features that will enable educators and professionals to participate in message boards on issues important to them.
